Eternal Swag: Esquire's 75 Best Dressed Men of All Time

In 2010, Esquire.com published their list of the 75 "best dressed men of all time." The list was unique because fictional characters from the movies were included in the slide show of classic, eclectic, and sexy (says a women who loves to look at a well-dressed man).

Here are my favorites from the list:

VA|BESPOKE IMAGE IS EVERYTHING

VA|BESPOKE AT ITS FINEST

VA|BESPOKE continues to work towards transforming the images of boys to men. We've been on our grind with photo shoots, engagements, and rubbing elbows with all the right people. The mission is clear: Take over the world one shirt-and-tie at a time!

Britches. Pantaloons. Trousers. Pants. Pull them all up!

Henrik Ibsen, the 19h century Norwegian playwright remarked, "You should never wear your best trousers when you go out to fight for freedom  and truth." VA|BESPOKE thinks that wearing your best trousers is the way to win the fight. A man in the right pair is a winner before the battle even starts!

Pants have a long history and we won't go into detail about it (just click here). Just know that at some point, men didn't wear them and we're glad that changed a long time ago! While women wear pants quite often now, it's still really part of a man's signature piece of clothing (unless you're from Scotland) -  women can wear both, but generally speaking, men cannot.

Tuxedo, formal, casual, and of course, denim:

Prada Dress Pants (www.julesb.co.uk)

Banana Republic Casual Khakis (www.bananarepublic.com)

Gap Premium Men's Jeans (www.gap.com)

A man who is particular has choices if he prefers custom-made. There are choices in style, cut boot, straight leg, tapered), pleats (one, two, or no pleats), front and back pocket placement (flap, dress slit, buttoned), closure (button, hook & amp; bar, extended tab), leg opening (cuffed, un-cuffed, unfinished), and pocket lining (matching or contrasting). And of course, don't forget about the dizzying number of choices in fabric and color.

Judge A Magazine By Its Cover

VA|BESPOKE is image personified and a purveyor of class.

Case-in-point: The November 2011 cover of The 5 Magazine, whose byline is Anything You Can Give a High 5 To. This magazine is interested in anything style: fashion, models, entertainment, travel and the list goes on. It makes perfect sense that the two brands would come together to create the covers that sell the vision of a man who can do anything and go anywhere. Which cover to chose? It doesn't really matter....the custom-made confidence graces both.

Wingtips: Retro, Classic Style

It's not really a secret: Women love to see men in a well-crafted pair of shoes. Many ladies actually  make judgements about a man based on their footwear. Bad shoes equal no play, and definitely, no phone number! But, when a man wears wingtip shoes, it usually separates their style from the average. It suggests, swagger, and elevates their status to "Classic" and "Risk-taker" all at the same time. Wingtips are.....Sexy.

Even men who rock these shoes with elegance may not really know very much about them and what makes them standout. Yes, they are visually appealing, but why are they even called wingtips?

Wingtips actually originate in Scotland and Ireland and are called "Brogues" because of the perforations or brogueing on the outer part of the all leather shoe that creates a W (supposedly reminding you of a bird flying...hence, Wingtip). The perforations were designed more for practicality, than fashion.  In the wet climate and terrains of the Scottish and Irish countrysides, perforations allowed water to drain from the shoe. In fact, in the early 20th Century, wingtips only came in black or brown and were not for formal wear! By the middle of the century, two-tone shoes wingtips became popular usually combining white, black, and brown leather.  Today, they are fit for boardrooms and formal affairs. (Source) (Source)

Styles of wingtips:

Full Brogue (Wingtip)
Two-tone full wingtips
Black and brown
Patten leather black and white
Solid Color with white stitching

Half Brogues (with brogueing on the toe caps)

Brougeing on the toe caps

9 eyelet wingtip boot

Today, the myriad of wingtip shoes and colors are dizzying, but just know that the retro feel of these shoes are always a winning choice! Click here for a link to Esquire.com for a guide on purchasing wingtips of any price and style.
