One aspect of the VA|BESPOKE mission is to provide image services that may seem to be long lost in a world of sagging pants, grunge, and mimicking rap and rock videos. To put it mildy, a tremendous undertaking. While looking and acting like a gentleman may not be fashionable in 2011 for many, it is still on display regularly via your television. That's right, no need to attend the Metropolitan Opera, $10,000-a-plate political function, or window shop on 5th Avenue. No need to open a men's magazine. Just a flick of the remote and examples of haberdashery finery is in view. Case in point, the gentleman of HBO's Prohibition-era show, Boardwalk Empire (Sunday nights at 9 PM). Chalky White (Micheal Kenneth Williams) and Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi) are standouts, although most of the men in the cast could outshine men in Wall Street boardrooms in any era. These two characters are so well dressed, their clothes virtually steal the show! Much ado has been made about the red coat with wool collar Chalky rocked two weeks ago and the bold patterns of his suits....
and Nucky? Well, details of his dress are exquisite in every scene:
While the characters of the show operate on the wrong side of the law, each episode brings forth a lesson in class. Take notes! Go even further and click the link here to the HBO blog to see more "Gangster Fashion" and to the HBO Boardwalk Empire Homepage.
